Voyager 6x14, "Nightmare Fuel"
The crew is permanently traumatized by a malfunctioning nightmare beacon that forcibly inserts memories of a civilian massacre, as seen from the perspective of its perpetrators, into all that pass. The crew makes sure that it will continue to run for at least 300 more years and then goes on its way.

The Sorry State of 24th Century IT
One thing that really stands out about Voyager and Deep Space Nine is the state of information technology in the series. It’s very typewriter era, to the point that everyday technology in the real world had surpassed it even as the shows were still being filmed. One of the most conspicuous instances was when the Voyager crew finally got a batch of letters from home. Neelix rolled a cart full...

I had a dream/half-asleep thought
about how amazing it would be if the Borg all looked like/made people look like the Grace Jones clones in the video for Demolition Man.

I’m just restarting Spanish. Whee! I’m on there as kimpira. idk how useful it is for intermediate...

Voyager 4x22: "The Silence Must Fall (in Love)"
The alien love interest of the week prevents everyone around her from forming long-term memories of her time with the crew. This differs from every other Star Trek love interest of the week in that this ability is made explicit before she leaves.

Voyager 4x17: "Infinite Rape Cultures in Infinite...
Ragingly terrible, uncomfortable rape/abuse allegory that suddenly and inexplicably comes down on the side of the accused after the evidence they find comes back merely inconclusive instead of conclusively exonerating. Especially disappointing because the series had been improving and 7 of 9 has been a pretty great character.

The 3DS Online Store
Does Nintendo realize that they can use their online store to actually sell things? Like, not just “sell things” in the sense of advertising games that will eventually be available on Amazon (but not the online store), but in the sense of receiving payment and delivering software? I don’t get the impression that everyone at Nintendo has realized this yet. Based on what they...

I had a dream the other day
where I was flipping through a recent issue of Nintendo Power and I found a word-of-the-day style article on heteronormativity. I was really impressed, and then I woke up.

Maybe “leather” regalia made out of nylon windbreaker material and a Claes Oldenburg-style soft sculpture of a woodman’s axe slung over one shoulder.
